Ugh here we go. Don’ let that fool you I am excited about this.

A couple conversations that I had with friends today got me to thinking a little bit more than I like to about this subject. Subject being relationships. You know it’s a broad subject friendship, marriage, colleagues, these are all relationships in one way or another, there is just so much to think about, thus why I don’t like to think about it. Ready? Here we go.

One person had said that trust is the most important aspect of a relationship no matter what that relationship may be. Now I don’t necessarily disagree with that, trust is very important to have when letting someone into your life. But if trust is so important then why do people who think trust is that important involve themselves with people they don’t trust? Because in fact they do, whether they consciously realize it or not you don’t ever really totally trust someone. There is always that lingering ‘What if’ that comes about every once and a while. I guess I would like to say that trust is important but don’t fool yourself into thinking that you will ever completely trust more than one person, that one person being yourself. That is the only person that really cares about what you care about, the only one who is there for you everyday, and the only one who can truly make you feel better about any and every thing.

Whoa Whoa, I can see how this is making me seem but trust me it’s not like that I promise. Let me explain. I am not against relationships, in fact I am very pro socialization and I love relationships, good and bad. But I feel that people grow up with this unrealistic idea that your significant other is supposed to be able to pull you out of any rut that you or others might get you into, when in fact you have to be the biggest part in making yourself feel better, and if you can do that you will find yourself as one of the happier people you meet. Don’t make your significant other or the people you surround yourself with feel as though they should be cheering you up, because you should be and actually are the most detrimental person in making that happen. God I think I forgot about what else I was going to talk about. Well just wait for the next post, it will come to me I promise. Until then…

ThinkOnTheFeet. ThinkOnTheFly. ThinkRabbits.

Here marks my first venture out into the world outside of the Midwestern United States, first time aboard an aircraft, and the first time traveling alone. Never I have I had such a zest in life that I can remember, never has the coffee tasted so earthy, never has the sun been brighter upon my face because it is not the same sun nor the same coffee that I have experienced for the previous 23 summers.

I could have never imagined San Antonio to be such a beautiful city, I expected the Southern and Mexican culture but the city in itself blew me away with every step down the River Walk. I felt as I were strolling down the streets of Venice, I could almost hear the oars breaking the water as the gondoliers crept down the streets where only the buoyant survive.

Not far from “Little Venice” lies the Alamo a place of great Pride and amazing history of the old west stands in stark contrast to it’s modern surroundings. Here hundreds battled against thousands against impossible odds, for freedom. I yearn for a time when people held such passion for a way of living. At the present time here in America we are too concerned with lining out own pockets and “looking out for number 1″ to worry ourselves with the problems that face the greater community. That is not to say that I don’t love my country, but I feel as though we have strayed from the path a bit and I wish we could get back on track with caring about our people and the freedoms that we all share as Americans.

That being said I cannot wait to travel more in our beautiful country, as well as the other beautiful countries that this world holds in it’s possession.

First blog entry of many to come. This will contain the thought of a young, fairly creative, Madison resident. Now that the formalities are out of the way….

So many things are expected to be laid out in your life. I have been finding this out more and more as I approach my mid 20′s and I tend to disagree with most of what the upper echelon of my present micro society wants me to do. They say ‘Plan for the future, get your game plan, then execute it to a T’. Hmmm now that seems like a great idea on the surface….doesn’t it?

I would beg the contrary, life is anything but planned, folks who have these plans are the same ones who claim that ‘life isn’t fair’, who tout that ‘this wasn’t supposed to happen’, when in fact all that is and isn’t fair and all that was and wasn’t supposed to happen are in fact aspects of a life. Life is up, life is down, without the down’s you wouldn’t realize the up’s. It is all in how you handle situations on the fly, how well you can deal with the down times and how well you can take advantage of the best of times. All this being said, it really comes down to how you want your life to go, and realizing that you have that choice is the first step in commanding your life.

These things seem to be obvious, I know that I have heard these ideas many times in my life, but it is not until you know that they are true that you truly benefit from those lessons. From there nothing can stop you, and it is kind of a funny thing to know.

Go ahead and marinate on that.
